We mean it when we say that YOU BELONG HERE at Launch Student Ministries. Our youth group (for grades 7-12) is a place where students can connect with friends, have a lot of fun and build their faith. We are building a community of believers who don’t simply know the truth, they act on it.
We meet at 7 p.m. every Wednesday night in the Launch Student Center for youth group. Doors open at 6 p.m. Students come early to hang out, play games and enjoy something from the snack bar. An hour later, service begins with a high-energy countdown, motion lights, contemporary worship and a message from our student pastor, Jeff McNiell, that will encourage, challenge and build the faith of our teenagers.
Relationships are the backbone of our student ministry. We do life together. The fourth Wednesday of each month, we split into small groups – we call them “families” – by gender and grade to talk about topics from that month’s series. Each student is assigned a volunteer leader who helps with conversations and communicates with them throughout the month.
Our homework program each Wednesday allows students to work on homework, projects and other school-related activities. Professional tutors are available to help. A meal is also served. Students in the Houston R-1 School District can ride a bus from the campus to the student center.
Sitting alone on one end of our church campus, the Launch Student Center is a facility just for our students. Inside, teenagers can play basketball, pool, ping pong or video games. There is a rock climbing wall and hoverboards as well as a full snack bar with sodas and coffee grinders as well as pizza, chicken nuggets, cheese fries and more. Upstairs there is a loft with sofas and pub tables to hang out.
